MUSI 3319 - Sacred Music Literature

3 hrs
Survey study of sacred choral and instrumental musical works used in worship by Christian and Jewish sects and denominations from all musical periods. In a graduate school preparatory environment, students employ score study, listening analysis and style analysis skills to research and give presentations on sacred music genres, including standard hymnody, contemporary praise, Southwest Texas and Mexican American repertoire.
Prerequisites: MUSI 2340,  MUSI 2345  or consent of the instructor.
