Detailed study of Western music history from antiquity to the 18th century, including study of the emergence and evolution of musical forms, styles, genres, and media in a team-based learning environment. This is a writing intensive course: students attend and write reports on live concerts, write weekly logs about works studied in class, as well as researching, writing and presenting one research paper.
