SOCI 2313 - Migration and Assimilation

Using sociological methods and perspectives, this course explores the human history of migration and immigrant issues. Students will employ critical thinking skills in the hopes of creating a better understanding of this highly controversial issue. In learning of these various historical moments of global migration, students will engage in lively discussions and problem solving-sessions. There are tee major segments in this course. 1. Migration patterns both contemporary and historical. 2. Immigrant assimilation (U.S. focus). 3. Laws and policies applied to immigrants (U.S. focus).
