ARTS 5350 - Art of the Chicanx Civil Rights Movement 3 hrs
The poster and mural art of the “Chicanx Movement” illustrates history of ethnic empowerment and protest among Americans of Mexican descent beginning in the 1960s. Once considered derogatory, by the 1960s young Mexican Americans embraced the identifier with pride in ones’ Mexican and Native heritage and displayed it through their art. Experiential learning component may be part of this course. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. Fee: $45. Offered: As Needed.
