Creative Writing Certificate

The department of English, Mass Communication, and Drama seeks to create a four-course Creative Writing Certificate. The four-course certificate will be an option for students who are interested in creative writing and cannot commit 18 hours to a minor in English. Students can explore a variety of writing areas that include fiction, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, and poetry.
Requirements for the Creative Writing Certificate include twelve (12) credit hours of classes that are already in existence in the catalogue. Students will take ENGL 3311 repeated in any combination of genres: fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Students can also choose from the following courses: DRAM 4371 Advanced Playwriting, COMM 3322 , Writing the Short Screenplay, and COMM 4320 , Screenwriting.
