Master of Arts in Teaching: Elementary with Bilingual Specialization

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is a degree designed for candidates seeking initial teaching certification in Texas.  Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree.  The MAT combines an intensive study in pedagogy and academic content. The MAT provides candidates with one of the following certification options:

• Elementary with an additional certification in ESL
• Elementary with an additional certification in bilingual education
• Elementary with an additional certification in special education
• Secondary Science with an additional ESL certification option
• Secondary English Language Arts with an additional certification in ESL
