Examination of the role of state governments in U.S. politics and policymaking, with a particular focus on the state of Texas. Focus on understanding the role of states in policymaking within a federalist system, the unique role of the states as “laboratories of democracy,” and how state government structures and behaviors both mirror and diverge from those of the national government.
